With lockdown 2 nearing its expiry date, the Essex Senior League have confirmed it will return on December 5th unless stated otherwise. It’s difficult to see if it will be a definite return as the Government are unsure whether the restrictions would end 3-days earlier.
If the league was to resume, 7 games are scheduled to go ahead on the first Saturday of December. If you were to look closely at the fixtures, you’d notice they are the reverse of the opening game of the season.
Hashtag United will look to continue their good form and extend their lead at the top as they travel to Cricklefield to take on Ilford. The game at the Len Salmon Stadium finished 4-0 to the hosts so the Foxes will certainly look to upset the odds and get a win at home.
Hoddesdon Town, Sporting Bengal United and Southend Manor will also look to revenge their opening day defeats as they take on Cockfosters, Walthamstow and Sawbridgeworth Town respectively. The Lilywhites were defeated 3-1 away to Cockfosters but with better form at home, they will certainly look to leap-frog their opponents into 3rd with a win whilst Bengal also lost 3-1 on the opening day. Stow rolled into town in Mile End and grabbed a good win over the hosts but with an enforced break between Stow’s collecting momentum and the difficulties facing Bengal, they will look to create an upset as they battle at Wadham Lodge.
For Sawbridgeworth, they picked up a massive 3-points on the opening day as they scored 5 against Southend Manor at Southchurch Park, winning 5-2. Southend Manor have since picked up some huge results, beating Walthamstow at the Lodge and drawing with Hashtag in Pitsea so Sawbo will have their work cut out if they are to get another good win under their belts.
Both Clapton, Saffron Walden Town and St Margaretsury are at home as they welcome Stansted and Enfield. Clapton held Stansted at Hargrave Park to a 2-2 draw whilst Walden were also held 2-all on the opening day as Redbridge almost took all 3-points at Oakside. The game between St Mags and Enfield ended goalless but all sides will be hoping to get the 3-points this time around.
This also means there is no fixtures planned for either Woodford Town, Takeley, Hadley or West Essex. The Woods would have made a emotional homecoming against Hadley whilst Takeley would have hosted West Essex.
