Sunday brought plenty of goalmouth action as Royston Town, Colney Heath, St Ives Town and Wymondham Town all recorded wins in the Eastern Region Women’s Football League.
Wymondham Town remained top-of-the-league and opened up a 5-points gap as they beat Peterborough Northern Star 2-1. A Chelsea Clarke brace was enough for Wymondham to grab the 3-points in a tough game.
St Ives won by a margin of 5-goals whilst Royston Town won by a 4-goal margin. Two quick goals from Ruth Fox had put Ives 2-0 up at half-time before a goal from Hannah Seymour-Shove and two quick fire goals from Georgie Stancombe gave St Ives a comfortable 5-0 win over Bowers & Pitsea whilst Royston Town were 7-3 victors over AFC Dunstable. A brace from Georgia Miller had put the Crows 2-0 up before Yasmin Pratt and Charlotte South both added goals to make it 4-0. Dunstable pulled one back just before the break but Sydney Graham make it 5-1. Dunstable pulled another back almost instantly but Samantha Edgar scored a 30-yard free-kick to make it 6-2 to the Crows. AFC Dunstable managed to get a 3rd but it was merely a consolation as Joely Kirby rounded off the victory with a 7th goal for Royston.
Colney Heath rose to 4th in the league table as they did enough to grab 3-points off Bedford with a 4-3 win. A hattrick from Nicola Puddick and a goal from Mia Pinkham were enough despite 3-goals from the hosts.
There was also a draw between Wroxham and Harlow Town. A brace from Grace Birchall and a goal from Laura Dawson put the Yachtswomen 3-1 up at half-time with a goal coming from Tayla Handscombe. Goals from Fran Gamble and a 90th-minute equaliser from Ellie Manning saw the Hawks fight back to claim a point.
