The draw for the First Qualifying Round has been made with four Essex Senior League teams still in the competition. Walthamstow, Hashtag United, St Margaretsbury and Stansted found out their fates this afternoon.
Walthamstow vs St Margaretsbury
The Essex Senior League will be represented by at least one side in the Second Qualifying Round as Walthamstow host St Margaretsbury. Walthamstow will be looking to reach the 2nd Qualifying Round for the second consecutive season while St Mags will be looking to continue on their incredible run as they were knocked out in the Extra Preliminary Round last season.
Walthamstow reached this stage after beating London Lions by coming back twice to win 3-2 before beating Cockfosters 3-2 on penalties after a 1-1 which saw Charlie Mann save three spot-kicks. St Margaretsbury beat Baldock Town in the Extra Prelim Round, winning 4-2 on pens after a 2-2 draw before they were 3-1 winners over Sawbridgeworth. Both sides will be playing their second all-ESL tie.
Hashtag United vs Soham Town Ranger
Hashtag will hope their debut campaign in the FA Cup doesn’t end in the 1st Qualifying Round as they host Soham Town Rangers. Their opponents in this one compete in the Isthmian League North Division so it will be another Step 4 side for the Tags.
Hashtag United beat fellow-debutants Park View in the Extra Preliminary Round, winning 2-1, before they beat Step-4 Felixstowe & Walton United in the Prelim Round, winning 13-12 on penalties following a 1-1 draw.
Coggeshall Town vs Stansted
Stansted will travel to Coggeshall in the First Qualifying Round as they look to represent the ESL in the next round. Stansted will also want to enjoy their run as they were knocked out in the Extra Preliminary Round last season at the hands of Barkingside. Coggeshall also play their football in the Isthmian North Division.
Stansted beat ESL rivals Takeley in the Extra Preliminary Round beating them 3-2 before they shocked Step-4 Basildon United, winning 2-0 at home in the Prelim Round.
