Hashtag move top as Stow, Bengal and Walden all win

The gameweek began with a comfortable win for West Essex over Enfield. Goals from Cameron Gray and George Fairhead had given West a 2-0 lead in the first 20-minutes. Michael Mignot added a third less than 5-minutes into the second half before Gray completed his brace to put the host 4-0 ahead. Ollie Miles pulled one back for Enfield but it was merely a consolation as Mignot also got a brace with a second goal in the 85th-minutes.

Saturday saw wins for Redbridge, Hashtag United, Saffron Walden, Sporting Bengal, Stansted, Takeley and Walthamstow. The Motormen left it late against Clapton as they scored two in the final 10-minutes to win the game. Jeffrey Cobblah put the Tons ahead in the 57th-minute but goals from James Barlow and Josh Sykes was enough for Redbridge.

Hashtag United moved top as they beat previous league leaders Cockfosters 2-1. Despite an even first-half, the Tags took a 2-0 lead in the space of 4th-minutes after goals from Albie Keith and Harry Honesty. Fosters pulled one back in the 79th minute but it wasn’t enough as they recorded their first defeat of the season. There was also a 2-1 victory for Takeley. They inflicted Woodford’s Town 8th straight loss of the season as goals from Elliott Long and Lewis Deamer were enough despite a goal from the visitors.

Stansted moved up to 3rd with a 3-1 win over St Margaretsbury. Connor Hammond gave the Airportmen the lead after 33-minutes as he headed in a cross from Nick Reynolds before the lead was doubled just after the break as Hammond got his second. The hosts pulled one back through Tom Massey but it wasn’t enough as Stansted restored their 2-0 lead in the 82nd-minute with a goal from Michael Salako.

Sporting Bengal United beat Ilford 4-3 at Mile End. The Foxes had taken the lead through Yemi Adelani as he scored from the spot before Dimi Christou doubled the lead. Just before half-time, Bengal pulled it back to 2-2 as Rachid Qist picked up a brace, one goal from the spot and another latched onto a low cross. The hosts had turned it around as Emerson Mario D’Jar put them ahead but Dion Lewis-Kirwan brought the Foxes level. The winner saw Qist complete this hattrick which was enough for the points.

There were also big wins for Saffron Walden and Walthamstow. Walden picked up a 4-0 win over Hoddesdon Town a brace from Gavin Cockman as well as another and a goal from Scott Pethers was enough. Walthamstow kept their first clean sheet and recorded their biggest win of the season with a 7-0 wins over Sawbridgeworth Town. Braces for Callum Ibe and Dwade James as well as a goal from Clements gave Stow a 5-0 lead at the break before a further goal from Ibe for his hattrick and a goal from the gaffer Max Mitchell rounded off the win.
