There were 22 goals in the Essex Senior League as Hashtag United, St Margaretsbury, Cockfosters, Enfield, Hashtag United, Stansted and Walthamstow all picked up wins.
West Essex couldn’t get their weekend off to the best possible start as they were held by Woodford Town on Friday Evening. A Jaydon Charles brace as well as a goal from Darren Foxley were enough for the Woods to get only their second points of the season as Brad Russell, George Fairhead and Callum Bloss scored for the hosts.
Hashtag United remained top-of-the-league as they beat Sawbridgeworth Town at home. A lone goal Kris Newby at the end of the first-half was enough for the Tags as they remained 2-points ahead of Stansted.
There were also wins Cockfosters, Stansted and Walthamstow as they remained on the chase. Stansted remain 2nd as they beat Southend Manor 2-0 while Cockfosters eased past Sporting Bengal United as they won 4-0. Vinny Durrant had given the hosts the lead after just 5-minutes before James Verney doubled their lead in the 65th minutes. A further two in two-minutes from Carl Mullings and George Beattie gave Fosters a good win to stay 3rd. Goals from Callum Ibe and Dwade James proved enough for Stow in the first half despite a goal from Josh Sykes as Walthamstow beat Redbridge to go up to 4th.
Both Enfield and St Margaretsbury picked up narrow wins. Enfield beat Hoddesdon Town as a lone Alex Warman goal was enough while St Margaretsbury beat Clapton. A Ricardo Adewuyi brace had given Bury a 2-0 lead before Courtney Homans pulled one back but it wasn’t enough for the hosts.
Saffron Walden Town couldn’t hold onto a lead as they drew 1-1 with Ilford. Balde had given the bloods a 1-0 half-time lead before Ilford equalised with the points being shared.
