Goals from Chloe Bassett, Becky Shephard, Beth Chambers, Georgia Box, Amy Nash and Abbey Dell saw Harlow Town Ladies cruise to victory over Haringey Borough at Coles Park. The visitors were rampant over a struggling Borough as they took another step towards the title.
Right from the off, Harlow were on top. They took the lead after just 2 minutes when Chloe Bassett finished with a lovely dink over the keeper to opening the scoring. The opening minutes were dominated by the visitors and Becky Shephard doubled the lead in the 7th minute when a cross to the back post was calmly slotted past the keeper.
Haringey Borough couldn’t break out of their own half as Harlow continued to attack. Beth Chambers added a third when she rounded the keeper and slotted home before Georgia Box got her first of the afternoon when she was played through and finished past Murray who had come off her goal-line. The Hawks were unlucky not to be further ahead despite a barrage of chances. Box send a shot wide after creating some space before she had the chance to lob the keeper but couldn’t connect and Becky Shephard touched the ball over at the far post.
There was a chance for Borough towards the half-time whistle but a shot from distance was comfortably saved by Charlie Orwell. Right before half-time, Georgia Box got her second of the game when a low ball from Amy Nash came to her feet and allowed her to tap in. The teams went into the break with Harlow leading 5-0.
There were chances for both sides at the start of the second half but neither could convert. An acrobatic effort from Kaydee King was just over the bar before Shanice Nourrice had Borough’s best chance of the game but couldn’t get the ball out of her feet after some good work on the wing from Gracei Robinson.
Amy Nash added a sixth for the Hawks in the 52nd minute when she tapped the ball into the next after the keeper misjudged the height of the ball and allowed it to fall behind her. Despite being far ahead of their opponents, Haringey Borough were able to pull one back when Shanice Nourrice slotted past Orwell.
Despite a rare chance for Haringey when Charlee Vaz was played through, it was Harlow who brought their shooting boots to the game. They added a 7th and 8th when Becky Shephard got two to complete her hattrick. She created some space and slotted home before she finished well after being denied by the post. Box almost had another goal when she touched the ball over the box after being played over the top but it was Chloe Bassett who got her brace when she took it round the keeper and fired it in past Scotty Murray.
As the game reached the final ten minutes, it remained all Harlow as they looked for more goals. Abbey Dell added a 10th with 9 minutes remaining when she tapped home a pull back ball before Georgia Box completed her hattrick in the 88th minute when she tapped home a rebound after the ball had cannoned off the crossbar. Despite a last chance for both sides, the referee ended the game at 11-1.
