Mersea, Tiptree and Pegasus victorious as Leaders are defeated

With football making a return on Saturday, a full schedule was soon rained off but with the games that went ahead there were big wins for Mersea Island, Stanway Pegasus Reserves and Tiptree Jobserve while Coggeshall United Reserves and Silver End United were also victorious.

Mersea Island rose to 11th in the table with their 3rd win of the season after putting 7 past Boxted Lodgers. A goal from Lewis Brooks wasn’t enough for the hosts as the visitors took their chances. Tiptree Jobserve remained 4th but close the gap on leaders Belle Vue to just 3-points as they beat bottom of the table West Bergholt Reserves. The visitors got onto the scoresheet but that wasn’t enough as Tiptree scored four to boost their position in the table.

Stanway Pegasus Reserves rose to 7th in the table with an empathic 5-1 win over Hedinghams United. A brace from Will Howe as well as goals from George Barron, Luke Payne and Robert Taylor gave the visitors a great win on the road.

Belle Vue suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of Coggeshall United Reserves. David Weir was on target for the league leaders but it wasn’t enough for their 8th win of the season as the Reserves scored two as they rose to 6th in the table and close the gap to their opponents to 4th-points. Silver End United left it late against 9-man Alresford Colne Rangers Reserves as a Joe Borein goal in the 93rd-minute was enough for the win for the hosts. The win also took United level on points with Belle Vue, having played a game more.
