Walthamstow have been drawn away to Aylesbury United after a fantastic win over Isthmian League North side Great Wakering Rovers in the Preliminary round. Due to fixture clash with Chesham United at their Meadow Ground, this will be played on Sunday 8th September and the time for this one is 3pm.
Walthamstow’s run in the FA Cup this season has seen them beat Fellow Essex Senior League side Sporting Bengal United before beating Isthmian League North side Great Wakering Rovers 2-0. Walthamstow have also done well in the league beating Tower Hamlets, Stansted and drawing with Hadley.
The confidence in the Walthamstow camp remains high but the team is focused and ready for the challenge ahead. Stow’s current record in all competitions is for good reading. Having played 5 games, Stow have won 4 and drew 1 whilst scoring 16 and only conceding 1. For Aylesbury United, it is not a bad run either. They have also played 5 games, winning 3 times and drawing twice with 9 goals scored and 2 conceded.
The weekends opponents practice their trade in the BetVictor Southern Central Division and reached the 1st round qualifying by beating Brimscombe & Thrupp by 3 goals to 1 in the Preliminary round. Aylesbury are also in some good form themselves in their league. They currently sit 4th, 2 points off the top, with 8 points, and remain unbeaten with wins against Wantage Town and Daventry Town and draws against Corby Town and Didcot Town.
With both teams in good form and unbeaten in their respective leagues, it’s very to hard to predict a favourite. Aylesbury United are level 8 of the English Football League whilst Walthamstow are level 9 so Stow could be seen as the underdogs.
Whatever happens in this one, it should be a great game and a great away day for Stow supporters. Get down to The Meadow and sing for the Stow!
