Preview: Essex Senior League – Gameweek 12

Another midweek Essex Senior League round of fixtures will see Hadley back in action for the first time in four games whilst those in the top half of the table will face some tough test against those midtable and below. I take a closer look at all the ties spanning over 3-days.

Hashtag United vs Hoddesdon Town – Monday 26th October 2020, 7.45pm

Monday Night Football is back in Pitsea as Hashtag United host Hoddesdon Town. Hashtag are top-of-the-league after 10-games, having won 8, drew 1 and lost 1 whilst Hoddesdon are 5th after 9-games, having won 5, drew 1 and lost 3. The Tags last game was a 1-1 draw at home as they were held by Southend Manor while Town’s last game saw them beat Sawbridgeworth 2-0 away from home.  I think Hashtag United will just edge this one as they look to extend their lead at the top-of-the-league.

Score prediction – 3-2

Sporting Bengal United vs Woodford Town – Monday 26th October, 7.45pm

Sporting Bengal also play on Monday Night as they welcome Woodford Town to Mile End. Sporting currently find themselves 12th after 10-games, with a record of won 4, drew 1 and lost 5 whilst their opponents are rock-bottom, having played 9 and lost 9. Bengal’s last game was a huge 1-0 win at Mile End against West Essex while the Woods were defeated 3-0 at Cricklefield by Ilford. I think the spoils will be shared this evening.

Score prediction – 2-2

Clapton vs Walthamstow – Tuesday 27th October, 7.45pm

Walthamstow will travel across East London as they take on Clapton at the Terence McMillan Stadium. Clapton are sat 17th in the league after 10-games with 4 draws and 6 losses whilst Walthamstow are 4th after 9-games with 6-wins and 3-losses. The Ton’s last game was a 5-1 defeat at home to Enfield whilst Stow picked up an important 1-0 win over Saffron Walden on the road. I think Clapton will have to wait longer for their first win of the season as Walthamstow should pick up 3-points.

Score prediction – 0-4

Redbridge vs Cockfosters – Tuesday 27th October, 7.45pm

Redbridge will welcome a strong Cockfosters side to Oakside on Tuesday. Redbridge currently find themselves 11th after 7-games, having won 4, drew 1 and lost 2. Cockfosters are 2nd, after 9-games, having won 6, drew 2 and lost 1. The Motormen’s last game was a 2-1 win over Clapton on October 17th, with their last fixture postponed against Hoddesdon Town whilst Cockfosters game was a close-fought 1-1 draw with Stansted. I think the visitors will grab their 7th win of the season.

Score prediction – 1-3

Southend Manor vs Takeley – Tuesday 27th October, 7.45pm

Southend Manor will welcome Takeley to Southchurch Park on Saturday. Manor find themselves 6th after 9-games, having won 5, drew 1 and lost 3 whilst their opponents Takeley are 9th, having won 4, drew 1 and lost 5 of their 10-games. Southend Manor’s last game was a well-fought 1-1 draw against Hashtag United whilst Takeley’s was a 5-0 win at home against St Margaretsbury. I think the points will be shared between these two sides.

Score prediction – 1-1

St Margaretsbury vs Hadley – Tuesday 27th October, 7.45pm

St Margaretsbury will welcome Hadley to the Recreation Ground on Tuesday. St Margaretsbury are 16th after 8-games, with a record of won 1, drew 3 and lost 4 whilst Hadley are 7th, having only played 6-games with a record of won 5 and lost 1.  St Mags last game was a 5-0 loss to Takeley on the road whilst Hadley’s last game came on October 13th with a 2-0 win over West Essex. Although they haven’t had a game in around 2-weeks, I think Hadley will still pick up another 3-points as they look to climb the table.

Score prediction – 0-3

Stansted vs West Essex – Tuesday 27th October, 7.45pm

One of the games of the gameweek will see Stansted welcome West Essex to Hargrave Park on Tuesday. Stansted are 3rd after 10-games, having won 6, drew 2 and lost 2 whilst West Essex currently sit in 10th after 9-games, having won 4, drew 1 and lost 4. Stansted’s last match was a 1-1 draw at home to Cockfosters while West Essex were beaten on the road against Sporting Bengal United. I think the points will be shared between these two-sides.

Score prediction – 2-2

Enfield vs Saffron Walden Town – Wednesday 28th October, 7.45pm

Enfield will welcome Saffron Walden Town to the Prokit Stadium, the home of Bishop’s Stortford. The E’s are currently 15th after 9-games, with 2 wins, 2 draws and 5 losses whilst Saffron Walden find themselves 8th after 11-games, having won 3, drew 4 and lost 4. Enfield’s last game was a 5-1 win over Clapton at the Terence McMillan Stadium whilst the Bloods last game was a 1-0 defeat at home to Walthamstow. I think Saffron Walden will get back to winning ways with a win.

Score prediction – 1-3

Ilford vs Sawbridgeworth Town – Wednesday 28th October, 7.45pm

Ilford will host Sawbridgeworth Town at Cricklefield on Wednesday. Ilford are sat in 14th in the league after 8-games, having won 2, drew 2 and lost 4 whilst Sawbo are currently 13th after 11-games, with 3 wins, 2 draws and 6 losses. The Foxes last game was a 3-0 win at home to strugglers Woodford Town while Sawbridgeworth’s last fixture was 2-0 loss at home to Hoddesdon Town. I think the spoils and points will be shared on Wednesday evening.

Score prediction – 1-1
