Preview: Essex Senior League – Gameweek 3

For the first time, we have seen signs of what looks to be the most open Essex Senior League season ever. Only two teams have kept a perfect record and all but 1 have points of board at this early stage.

Cockfosters vs Clapton – Tuesday 15th September, 7.45pm

Clapton have picked up two points this season from their opening two games after draws with Sawbridgeworth Town and Stansted while Cockfosters have had the perfect start to their season with two wins over Hoddesdon Town and Enfield. Fosters will still be confident going into the game and I think they will grab the win.

Score predicition – 2-0

Hadley vs Ilford – Tuesday 15th September, 7.45pm

Hadley will hope to put the lose to Hashtag United behind them as they welcome Ilford to Brickfield Lane. Hadley opened their campaign with a 4-0 win over Woodford Town before the 3-2 loss to Hashtag whilst Ilford were defeated by Hashtag on their opening day (by a 4-0 scoreline) before they beat rivals Redbridge 6-2. I think Hadley will be too strong for Ilford and will get the win.

Score predicition – 3-0

Hoddesdon Town vs West Essex – Tuesday 15th September, 7.45pm

West Essex picked up an excellent win over Saffron Walden, winning 2-1, after their draw with Takeley to open the 2020/21 season. Hoddesdon Town also picked up a huge win as they beat Takeley 4-3 after they 3-1 loss to Cockfosters. Despite being the away side, I think West Essex will win this one.

Score predicition  – 1-2

Redbridge vs Sporting Bengal United – Tuesday 15th September, 7.45pm

Both Redbridge and Sporting Bengal United have only accumulated 1 point win their first two games. The Motormen had drew with Saffron Walden before they lost to Ilford while Bengal lost 3-1 to Walthamstow before they drew 0-0 with St Margaretsbury. I think neither Redbridge or Bengal would get the victory and they will share the points.

Score predicition – 1-1

Saffron Walden Town vs St Margaretsbury – Tuesday 15th September, 7.45pm

Saffron Walden Town have not had the best of starts to their 2020/21 season, picking up a single point from their first two games. They drew with Redbridge after finding themselves behind before they lost to West Essex. St Margaretsbury have picked up 2-points after draws with Enfield and Sporting Bengal, both ending 0-0. I think Saffron Walden will be two strong for St Mags with them looking for their first win of the season.

Score predicition – 3-0

Sawbridgeworth Town vs Woodford Town – Tuesday 15th September, 7.45pm

Sawbridgeworth have already started off better than they did last season, sitting 3rd on 4-points. Their win came against Southend Manor on the opening day before they drew 1-1 with Clapton. Woodford Town sit rock-bottom having lost their two opening games. They lost 4-0 to Hadley before they lost to Southend Manor. I think the hosts will win.

Score predicition – 2-1

Takeley vs Hashtag United – Tuesday 15th September, 7.45pm

Takeley hosting Hashtag United is another huge game. Takeley have only picked up a single point in the first two games, drawing with West Essex and losing to Hoddesdon whilst Hashtag United have had the perfect start, beating both Ilford and Hadley. I think Hashtag will be too strong for Takeley and will get the three points.

Score predicition – 2-3

Walthamstow vs Southend Manor – Tuesday 15th September, 7.45pm

Walthamstow have won 1 and lost 1 in their opening fixtures after they beat Sporting Bengal United and lost to Stansted whilst Southend Manor have also won 1 and lost 1. They beat Woodford Town but had lost to Sawbo on the opening day. I think Walthamstow will get their second win of the season.

Score predicition – 4-1

Enfield vs Stansted – Wednesday 16th September, 7.45pm

The last game of gameweek 3, will see Enfield host Stansted. The hosts have only got a single point on the board as they drew with St Margaretsbury and lost to Cockfosters. The visitors have picked up four points after they drew with Clapton and beat Stow. I think Stansted will win this one.

Score predicition – 0-2
