Preview: Essex Senior League – Gameweek 7

Although teams will not all be on their 7th-game of the season, due to postponements from weather and cup-runs, this is the seventh “week” of fixtures in the Essex Senior League.

Hashtag United vs St Margaretsbury – Monday 5th October, 7.45pm

The gameweek begins on Monday as St Margaretsbury travel to Pitsea to take on Hashtag United. Hashtag sit 2nd having won 4 of their last 5 games whilst St Mags sit 12th having won 1, drew 3 and lost 1. Hashtag’s last game saw them lose their first game of the season against Walthamstow and St Margaretsbury won their first game of the season, defeating Woodford 2-1. Despite losing against Stow, I think the hosts will win this game.

Score prediction – 3-0

Sporting Bengal United vs Hadley – Monday 5th October, 7.45pm

Sporting Bengal United will welcome Hadley to Mile End due to floodlight issues at Brickfield Lane. Bengal sit in 15th having won 1, drew 1 and lost 3 while Hadley are currently 6th with a record of won 3 and lost 1 after playing just 4 games this season. Sporting Bengal’s last game was a 2-0 loss to Southend Manor and Hadley defeated Stansted 3-1 in their most recent game. I think Hadley will be too strong for Bengal and will get the win.

Score prediction – 0-4

Clapton vs Hoddesdon Town – Tuesday 6th October, 7.45pmĀ

Clapton will welcome Hoddesdon to the Terence McMillan Stadium on Tuesday. The tons sit 16th after 5 games having drew 3 and lost 2 while Hoddesdon sit 7th having won 3 and lost 2. Clapton’s last game saw them lose 6-1 to Saffron Walden and Hoddesdon’s last match saw them defeat Ilford 5-2. I think the visitors will be too strong their opponents and will get the win.

Score prediction – 0-2

Cockfosters vs Takeley – Tuesday 6th October, 7.45pm

Cockfosters will welcome Takeley to North London on Tuesday. Fosters sit top-of-the-table having won all-5 of their games whilst Takeley sit 13th after 5-games having won 1, drew 1 and lost 3. The last game for Fosters saw them pick-up a 3-1 win over West Essex and Takeley picked up their first win of the season a 7-2 win over Sawbo. Although it’s hard to see Cockfosters dropping points, I think it will end in a draw.

Score prediction – 2-2

Redbridge vs West Essex – Tuesday 6th October, 7.45pm

Redbridge will face West Essex on Tuesday at the Oakside stadium. The Motormen sit in 11th having won 2, drew 1 and lost 2 whilst West sit in 3rd having won 3, drew 1 and lost 2. The last game for each side saw big wins as Redbridge beat Enfield 4-0 and West Essex beat Manor 6-0. I think West Essex’s form will carry into this one and they will be victorious.

Score prediction – 1-3

Southend Manor vs Ilford – Tuesday 6th October, 7.45pm

Southend Manor will welcome Ilford to Southchurch park on Tuesday. Manor sit 9th having won 3 and lost 3 while Ilford sit 14th with a record of won 1, drew 1 and lost 2, having only played 4 games. Manor’s last game saw them face a thrashing against West Essex and Ilford’s most recent match was a 5-2 loss to Hoddesdon Town. I think this game will be a draw as both teams look to recover from recent losses.

Score prediction – 1-1

Stansted vs Saffron Walden Town – Tuesday 6th October, 7.45pm

One of the games of the gameweek sees Stansted welcome Saffron Walden to Hargrave Park. Stansted sit 4th having won 3, drew 1 and lost 1 whilst Walden sit a place below them having won 2, drew 3 and lost 1 after playing a game more. Stansted were defeated 3-1 to Hadley in their last game and Walden drew with Sawbo in theirs. I think the game will see the spoils shared between two of the big sides.

Score prediction – 2-2

Walthamstow vs Woodford Town – Tuesday 6th October, 7.45pm

Walthamstow will welcome Woodford Town to Wadham Lodge on Tuesday. The Stags sit 8th after winning 3, and losing 2 whilst Woodford sit rock-bottom having lost all 5 of their games. Stow’s last game saw them defeat Hashtag United at home whilst Woodford lost 2-1 to St Margaretsbury. I think Walthamstow will win this battle.

Score prediction – 3-0

Enfield vs Sawbridgeworth Town – Wednesday 7th October, 7.45pm

Enfield against Sawbridgeworth Town is the only game on Wednesday. The E’s sit 17th having drew 1 and lost 4 whilst Sawbo are 10th after winning 2, drawing 2 and losing 2 having played a game more. Enfield’s last game was a 4-0 defeat to Redbridge and Sawbo’s last game was a draw against Saffron Walden. I think Sawbo will find their form against and get the win.

Score prediction – 0-2
