Going into gameweek 8 of the season, only Cockfosters remain unbeaten. There is chance for plenty of movement though as Hashtag host Woodford Town, Stansted host Sporting Bengal United and Cockfosters travel to Cricklefield.
Hashtag United vs Woodford Town – Monday 12th October, 7.45pm
The gameweek will begin with another Monday Night game for Hashtag United. The 2nd-placed team will welcome Woodford Town to Pitsea as they look to add to their win over St Margaretsbury. The Tags sit 3-points behind Cockfosters and have a chance to go top, albeit temporarily. They have won 5 and lost 1 whilst Woodford Town have lost all-6 of their games. The Woods currently sit rock-bottom, 4-points adrift of Takeley, Ilford, Enfield, Sporting Bengal and Clapton. I think the hosts will continued on their quest for promotion against a Woodford side that has struggled all season.
Score prediction – 5-0
Hoddesdon Town vs Walthamstow – Tuesday 13th October, 7.45pm
Hoddesdon Town will welcome one of last season’s title-challengers to Lowfield in the form of Walthamstow. Hoddesdon sit in 8th having won 3, drew 1 and lost 2 whilst Walthamstow have won 4 and lost two, putting them 5th. Walthamstow were expecting to be challenging for the title but have been off the pace in the opening few weeks of the season, losing 2-games already. I think it will be a win for Walthamstow as they look to extend their 3-game winning run.
Score predicition – 1-3
Saffron Walden Town vs Enfield – Tuesday 13th October, 7.45pm
Another one of last season’s title-challengers Saffron Walden Town have also struggled and will welcome Jamie Cureton’s Enfield to Walden. The Bloods find themselves in 9th having only won 2 of their opening 7-games whilst drawing 3 and losing 2. Enfield on the other hand have only picked up 4-points, winning and drawing 1 and losing 4. I expect Saffron Walden to push on and claim the 3-points.
Score predicition – 3-0
Sawbridgeworth Town vs Redbridge – Tuesday 13th October, 7.45pm
Sawbridgeworth Town will welcome Redbridge to Crofters End as the Robins look to continue their good start to the season. Sawbo sit in 10th currently, having won 2, drawn 2 and lost 3 whilst Redbridge are a point-behind, having won 2, drawn 1 and lost 2. Sawbo have played two-games more than Redbridge and have already picked up the same amount of points as they did the whole season last year (after 28 games). I think the Robins will edge this game as they look to move up the table.
Score prediction – 1-0
St Margaretsbury vs Southend Manor – Tuesday 13th October, 7.45pm
St Margaretsbury will welcome Southend Manor to the Recreation Ground. The 12th-place team have only won 1 of their 6 games as they have drew 3 and lost 2. Southend Manor, on the other hand, sit 6th after winning 4 and losing 3 of their 7-games. Manor have made a better start to the season, sitting level on points with both Walthamstow and Hadley but I think the points will be shared.
Score prediction – 2-2
Stansted vs Sporting Bengal United – Tuesday 13th October, 7.45pm
Stansted will welcome Sporting Bengal United to Hargrave Park. The Airportmen are 3rd in the Essex Senior League after 6-games having won won 4, drew 1 and lost 1 whilst Sporting Bengal have only won 1 of their first-6, as well as drawing 1 and losing 4. Stansted will be hoping to close the gap on Cockfosters and keeping up with Hashtag United. I think it will be a good win for Stansted.
Score prediction – 3-0
Takeley vs Clapton – Tuesday 13th October, 7.45pm
Takeley will welcome Clapton to the FSI Stadium. Takeley have struggled this season, picking up a single win in their first 6 games whilst drawing 1 and losing 4. Clapton are level on points with their opponents drawing 4 and losing twice. Takeley will be looking to pick up their second win of the season whilst the Tons will look for their first win of the season. I think Takeley will do enough to win the game.
Score prediction – 2-1
West Essex vs Hadley – Tuesday 13th October, 7.45pm
West Essex will welcome Hadley to Mayesbrook Park for one of the games of the week. West sit 7th on 10-points having won 3, drew 1 and lost 2 whilst the Bricks sit 4th having won 4 and lost 1. Hadley have a game in-hand of the teams around them as they look to close the gap on Stansted, Hashtag United and Cockfosters. I think Hadley will just edge this one.
Score prediction – 2-3
Ilford vs Cockfosters – Wednesday 14th October, 7.45pm
Ilford will welcome leaders Cockfosters to Cricklefield on Wednesday night. The foxes sit in 14th-place having won 1, drew 1 and lost 3 of their 5-games whilst Cockfosters have won 6 out of 6. Fosters sit 3-points clear of Hashtag United and will look to maintain that lead, aiming for their 7th win of the season. I think Cockfosters will remain as the only side to not drop any points.
Score prediction – 1-3
