Another weekend of Essex & Suffolk Border League fixtures is almost upon us. Dunmow Town currently sit top, level on points with Belle Vue Social Club (who have a game in-hand), by a goal-different of +12 over their closest title-rivals. Whilst Holland A have played 7-games already, the majority of the clubs will be playing their 5th or 6th game of the season.
Belle Vue Social Club vs FC Clacton Reserves – Saturday 17th October, 3pm
Belle Vue have the chance to go top after tomorrow as they hosts FC Clacton Reserves. They currently sit level on points with Dunmow Town, having played a game less and would require a point to go top. Belle Vue have played 5 and won 5 whilst scoring 17 and conceding only 3. The only thing preventing them already sitting top is the 31 goals scored by Dunmow in their opening 6-games. Clacton Reserves sit 7th after 5 games, having won 2, drew 2 and only lost once. Their goal-different is not as impressive though as they have scored 11 but conceded 10. A win for the Reserves, should other results go their way, could see them in the top-4.
Coggeshall United Reserves vs Mersea Island – Saturday 17th October, 3pm
Coggeshall United Reserves will hope to move up the table as they welcome Mersea Island to the Feering Community Centre this Saturday. The Reserves side sit in 8th after 6 games having won 2, drew 1 and lost 3, scoring 7 and conceding 6 whilst Mersea sit 10th after 4-games having scored 8 but conceded 10. Mersea have two games in-hands on their opponents and a win would take them above the Reserves, putting themselves in a good position.
Holland A vs Cressing United – Saturday 17th October, 3pm
Holland A will host Cressing United, as 12th goes up against 13th. 12th-place Holland have played 7-games this season, winning 1, drawing 2 and losing 4 whilst scoring 16 but conceding 26. Their opponents, Cressing United, sit a point below Holland having played two less games. After 5 games, Cressing have won 1, drew 1 and lost 3, having scored and conceded 7. A win for Cressing United would put them in a strong position, overtaking their opponents whilst having the games in-hand but both sides will be hoping to move up there table with only their second win of the season.
Shurb End United vs West Bergholt Reserves – Saturday 17th October, 3pm
Shurb End United will welcome West Bergholt Reserves to Colchester this weekend. Shrub End sit 11th after 5 games having won 2 and lost 3 whilst scoring 8 but conceding 18. Their opponents, West Bergholt Reserves, sit rock-bottom having lost their opening 3 games, scoring 2 and conceding 17. The host will be looking to move up the table with a good win over their opponents who have struggled this season and a win could take them into the top-5. The Reserves will be looking for a win that would take them off the bottom, putting them in good position with games in-hand over the teams above.
Silver End United vs Gosfield United – Saturday 17th October, 3pm
Silver End United will host Gosfield United on Saturday. Silver End sit in 5th after 5-games having won 3 and lost2, scoring 11 and conceding 8 whilst Gosfield find themselves 9th after 5-games also with a record of won 2, drew 1 and lost 2. They are another team that have both scored and conceded 7. A win for the hosts could take them to within three-points of Dunmow Town having played the same amount of games. A win for Gosfield could also see them close the gap on the top-3 and should they beat their opponents, they will jump above them and could go 4th.
Stanway Pegasus Reserves vs Hedinghams United – Saturday 17th October, 3pm
Stanway Pegasus Reserves will host Hedinghams United at Stanway School on Saturday. The hosts sit 6th after 5-games having won 3 and lost 2 whilst scoring 11 and conceding 8. Their opponents Hedinghams United sit 14th after 5-games with a record of won 1 and lost 4, scoring 4 and conceding 15. A win for Pegasus could also see them close to gap on the leaders along Hedinghams will be hoping for a win that would see them move up the table, creating a gap between them and the bottom clubs.
Stanway Rovers Reserves vs Boxted Lodgers – Saturday 17th October, 3pm
Stanway Rovers Reserves are a point above 17th going into their game with Boxted Lodgers. Rovers Reserves have played 4, losing 3 and drawing 1 whilst scoring 3 and conceding 15. The Lodgers have played a game more but only sit a place above their opponents having won 1 and lost 4. A win for Stanway would not only take them above their opponents but would also create a gap between themselves and Bergholt but they will have to record their first win of the season whilst Boxted will be hoping to move up the table with their second win of the season.
Tiptree Jobserve vs Alresford Colne Rangers Reserves – Saturday 17th October, 3pm
4th-placed Tiptree Jobserve will host 3rd-placed Alresford Colne Rangers Reserves. Jobserve have played 4 games, winning 3 and drawing 1 whilst scoring 17 but conceding 6. Alresford are 3rd after 5-games with a record of won 4 and drew 1 whilst scoring 26 and conceding 8. Neither side have lost this season but something will have to give if any are to challenge the top-two. Alresford have 13-points and a win could take them a point above Dunmow Town, having played the same amount of games whilst a win for Tiptree would take them 2-points behind the leaders, putting them in a strong position with a game in-hand.
