League action returns to Wadham Lodge for Walthamstow following their disappointing exit from this year’s FA Cup. The kick off for this one is 3pm.
Walthamstow have only played 4 league games this season due to their involvement in the FA Cup Qualifying rounds. From those 4 games, it’s very good reading. Stow have won 3 and drawn 1 whilst scoring 11 and conceding only 1. Although it seems like good reading for the home side, it has been far from easy.
Despite a solid 7-0 win on the opening day, the last 3 games have been difficult. A stubborn Stansted defence saw Walthamstow win 1-0 before Hadley gave Stow a scare and were very close to coming away with a win. Stow beat Ilford 2-0 in the last league game but felt slightly disappointed at having dominating the game, they only came away with a 2-0 win.
Saturday’s visitors have played more games for Walthamstow – having played 7 so far. Cockfosters record this season is a mixed one having won 3, drawn 1 and lost 3 whilst scoring 11 goals but conceding 12. The visitors started off badly with a 3-0 loss away to Takeley before they picked up 10 points out of a possible 12 with wins over Hadley, Enfield and Tower Hamlets and a draw against Ilford before losing their two latest games – 2-1 away at Stansted and 1-0 at home against Southend Manor.
This will be a tough game for both sides. Ryan Maxwell’s side are one of the favourites to win the Essex Senior League but have found it difficult against sides that have surprised them with a quick start. There’s no doubt that Walthamstow will be the favourites but that doesn’t mean people are ruling out Cockfosters and not being cautious of the opposition could cost the hosts.
It should be a good game so get down to Wadham Lodge and sing for the Stow.
