There was only one Essex Senior League fixture on Saturday as the rain caused many games to be called off. Sawbridgeworth welcomed Saffron Walden to Crofters End whilst Hashtag United, Stansted and Walthamstow all featured in the FA Cup.
The only Friday night game saw West Essex thrash Southend Manor 6-0. A brace from Michael Mignot as well as goals from Brad Russell, Cameron Gray, George Fairhead and Hakim Medfai helped 10-man West onto a big win.
A penalty from Gavin Cockman and a goal from Alfie Hilton had given Walden a 2-0 lead at half-time before goals from Jake Skeet and Cav Clarke salvaged a point for the Robins. The draw saw the Bloods move up to 5th and Sawbo move up to 10th, albeit temporarily.
Hashtag United were eliminated from the FA Cup in the Second Qualifying Round against Braintree Town. A goal from Toby Aromolaran had put the Tags ahead but an instant reply from Olu Oluwatimilhin saw the game go to penalties. The visitors won 7-6 on penalties following two misses for Hashtag.
There were also defeats for Stansted and Walthamstow in the FA Cup. Stansted were defeated 4-2 after a hattrick from Josh Moreman and a goal from Maniche Sani despite Stansted pulling the game back to 2-2. Walthamstow came up against Step-3 Hornchurch with the game finishing 2-0 to the Urchins. The goals were scored in the first-half but Stow couldn’t find a way through.
