Wivenhoe Town pick up win as Brimsdown are held at home

A shortened midweek schedule in the Eastern Counties Division One South was made even shorter as Athletic Newham’s game against Hackney Wick at the Terence McMillan Stadium was called off. In the games that did go ahead, Wivenhoe Town recorded a big win as Brimsdown were held at home.

Braces from Dean Merrett as well as goals from Julian Bavin and Jack Mead saw Wivenhoe Town win 4-0 against Harwich & Parkeston as the Dragons moved up to 4th in the table with their 5th win of the season.

The only other game of the schedule on Wednesday saw Brimsdown hold White Ensign to a draw as the hosts moved off the bottom, albeit temporarily. Ensign missed the chance to go 3-points clear as they fought back to draw with Brimsdown. The hosts had found themselves 2-0 ahead before Connor Barnby pulled one back for the visitors. White Ensign were level through Luke Skinner but Brimsdown had been ahead once again before Bradley Gates salvaged a point for the away side as they went a point ahead of Little Oakley.
